French for 6 to 12 years old

6 year olds

Throughout the course, the six-year-olds make a qualitative leap in their French level. They will learn to talk about the past and use regular verbs as well as identifying certain auxiliary verbs and better understanding concepts related to time like today, yesterday, tomorrow or last week. They will also begin to count in French and recognise words by looking at them.

7 year olds

It’s time to learn to ask and answer simple questions whilst continuing to add concepts related to time and days of the week. During the course, the seven-year-olds will also learn to better use common expressions to say their name or to greet someone, identify the verb “to be” and learn to use it in both affirmative and negative sentences. In addition, they will train their listening skills, better understand what people say to them and be able to spell more accurately..

8 year olds

During the course, the eight-year-olds will learn to polish everything they’ve been working on in previous stages. They will be able to form more complicated sentences with more complex grammar structures and a richer range of vocabulary. They will correctly use the majority of pronouns in French, be capable of inventing rhymes, identifying the distinct parts of a sentence and expressing themselves more clearly.

10 year olds

The 10-year-olds will reinforce everything they’ve learned up to now, which will give them more confidence when expressing themselves in French. They will learn to ask questions, give information and share experiences with richer, more precise language. They will keep working on dialogues, so important in oral expression, and will increase their vocabulary through experiences based on nature and the world.

9 year olds

The time has come to learn how to form longer sentences with richer and more precise vocabulary. We also go into greater depth with key French grammar, through specific experiences and situations which hold the student’s interest while helping them learn formulas for creating more fluid and cohesive speech. Throughout the course, thanks to Alexandra and her adventure-filled life, the students will learn new vocabulary related to nature, animals and caring for the planet. They will read longer texts and will perfect their oral communication with short dialogues and very useful phrases for everyday life.

11 year olds

By reading and listening to stories in French, the 11-year-olds will discover new words and expressions which will help to widen their vocabulary in Frenchand will help them to perfect their grammar. The classes will be organised around activities which connect with the student’s daily lives, helping the learning to become more real and natural because it recreates situations that they are familiar with. In addition, enjoyable activities are carried out which are adapted to the children’s interests and help them to stay focused.

12 year olds

In this French course, the 12-year-olds will see their ability to communicate both orally and in writing strengthened. Throughout scenarios which deal with values and situations which are very relevant at this age, the students can identify with the issues, giving them a sense of security, keeping them motivated and helping them to feel comfortable expressing themselves more fluently. As with the previous level, in this level we increase the class length. This means the students spend more time practising and consolidating their communicative abilities. They will learn to give advice and describe personalities in simple terms. They will also start to write longer texts in French.
